Election Monitoring System for Presidential and Parliamentary Elections in the Maldives

We supported the Maldives chapter of Transparency International and the Elections Commission of Maldives to track election violations and complaints during the Presidential and Parliamentary elections of 2008 and 2009. A network of hundreds of election monitors in the field provided updates directly to the system via mobile phone. Election complaints via SMS were also crowdsourced from the general public and automatically logged in the system to enable Transparency International and the Elections Commission to speedily respond to reports of violations.

We supported a coalition of bi-lateral and multi-lateral funders in Sri Lanka, including UNDP, USAID and GTZ, to improve donor coordination, better balance funding across multiple thematic areas and avoid duplication of effort.
Mumbai Human Trafficking Victims Registry

We supported 15 civil society agencies conducting anti-trafficking work in the state of Maharashtra, India. The project was funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by the Academy for Educational Development (AED). This network, headed by a prominent civil society organization, Prerana, provides rehabilitation and reintegration services for victims of human trafficking, including psychosocial counselling, legal assistance and vocational training. Our system improved knowledge management and collaboration between these agencies, provided reports and analytics for project management, in addition to tracking client progress through their rehabilitation and reintegration process.

We worked with the National Democratic Institute (NDI) as part of a USAID local governance initiative to analyze voting patterns covering the General, Presidential and Local Government elections in Sri Lanka over the last 25 years to help local government and political party representatives better understand the voting patterns of their constituencies, and to help political parties improve their strategies for engagement with their constituents.

With support from Microsoft, we targeted non-technical skills development in the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry. We delivered customized training in ICT, workplace communication and soft skills required for six entry level positions in the BPO industry, generating employment opportunities for youth, promoting industry-specific expertise and fostering collaborative partnerships between employers and trainers.
Last Mile Initiative, Sri Lanka

In collaboration with Synergy Strategies Group, we implemented USAID's Last Mile Initiative in Sri Lanka to provide internet connectivity to rural communities to improve access to information and internet-enabled services. We partnered with local and global private sector entities, including Microsoft, Qualcomm, Dialog Axiata, National Development Bank and the Lanka Orix Leasing Company to set up 50 multi-service telecenters in rural areas.

We partnered with USAID and Microsoft in a multi-stakeholder initiative, the Unlimited Potential Partnership (UPP), aimed at workforce development in 4 specific industries: Agriculture, Apparel, Media and Tourism. By offering training in industry-specific ICT, UPP enhanced the employment prospects of thousands of youth across the country.
