Economic Growth
Economic growth is a key driver of sustainable development, enabling developing countries to reduce poverty and improve the quality of life for their citizens. Over the last fifty years, the developing world has achieved significant economic growth with average life expectancy increasing by 50% and the number of people living in extreme poverty more than halved.

The key to sustained economic growth are increases in overall productivity, and in the modern global economy, increased competitiveness of products and services on the global market. The emergence of information and communication technology (ICT) as a tool and enabler of growth has given developing countries a unique opportunity to rapidly accelerate economic growth and ‘leapfrog’ in development terms.

ICT plays a vital role in increasing access and thereby, increasing opportunities for rural citizens and businesses to effectively engage and buy and sell their products or services. Technology awareness and ICT skills also allows citizens unprecedented access to new learning and education opportunities and to market their knowledge and skills to prospective employers, leveling the playing field.

Infoshare works very closely with leading international organizations, multi-national corporations and the corporate responsibility arms of private sector companies, to deliver business and technology driven solutions to reduce poverty and enable growth. We build tools and applications to take information and services to the rural poor, and design and deliver skills development programs to increase employment.

Over the last 5 years, Infoshare has managed and implemented several large scale ICT training and education programs working with Microsoft'scorporate responsibility arm and with USAID, as well as partnered with Dialog, Qualcomm and leading development banks and micro-finance institutions in Sri Lanka, to implement a micro-franchise based rural entrepreneurship development program.
